Villager Appearance:

Villagers' work responsibilities can change depending on their work, but the appearance of villager's appearance will differ in each biome. They will keep the specific characteristics to their job so that each job is distinct. All farmers will wear straw hats and all Librarians will have glasses.

Stock trading

Mojang introduced the fantastic concept of 'Supply and Demand in Mojang 1.14. This means that if trade is carried out too frequently and the villager run short of inventory, but prices (the amount of items/emeralds that you need to give) will rise. Trades can be completed up to four times before the stock runs out. Villagers will replenish their stock once a day. If an item isn't exchanged for then the price will go down.

Unlocking Trades:

Both the villager and player gain experience when they trade. As the villager's skill level increases they can unlock the next level of trades are unlocked. There are five levels of trades available to each villager, which unlocks better quality items. The villager's level can be indicated by a color-coded badge that is worn on their clothing. It can range from Novice (Stone), Apprentice (Iron) and Journeyman/Gold), Expert(Emerald) up to Master(Diamond).

Wandering Trader

This may seem unusual however, it is the truth that there is a villager that is very different from the others. The Wandering Trader is a passive mob, like normal Villagers, but it appears randomly across the world with no pattern whatsoever. It is equipped with two trading llamas which are similar to normal llamas, but with a cosmetic alteration. Another oddity with this Villager is that it has no trading levels, meaning that the trades that you've rolled with him are the ones you are stuck with. Be assured, however, that his trades will reset the next time he appears.

The trades offered by the Wandering Trader are regarded as typically obscure, and challenging items to acquire. Not the most impressive or effective however, they are valuable. Be quick, because the Wandering Trader will despawn within 40-60 minutes.

Popularity:

You are a certain level of the popularity of an player. Negative actions like attacking villages can decrease your popularity, whereas trading frequently or curing zombie villagers are good ways to increase the amount of popularity. Negative actions can raise prices while positive actions may reduce them.

Let's say your village is spontaneously attacked by Illagers when you happen to be in the area, and you successfully ward off the attack. You will be awarded the 'Hero of the Village' status effect which will further lower trade prices (except for trades that cost 1 emerald.)

These are the basic principles of Villager Jobs and trading in villages. Now you'll be able to manage your villager farm as a pro! Mojang tends to rip the rug from under our feet quite often. Trading can be more complicated with Supply & Demand mechanics and popularity functions. You can exploit these features to either greatly aid you, or completely ruin the trading economy on your Minecraft server. I hope you find this guide useful. I wish you the best and good luck!
