Explore and survive in infinitely-generated worlds of wide open spaces, featuring diverse biomes as well as dungeons, enemies and endless possibilities. You can explore the world without being directed to where to go, build amazing dirt mansions, or dig a hole to hide away from the mobs. Everything happens according to the player.
There are two primary game modes: Survival, in which you must travel around the world, fight off enemies and find food, then build your own home and more; and Creative, in which you have unlimited resources and get to construct anything you can imagine.
Almost every single block on earth can be destroyed by mining, collected and combined on a table of crafting to make new blocks, tools, and even machines.
The Java Edition of Minecraft has an active modder community. You can also install lots of other content on your server. There are more than 300 modpacks that you can install with just one click in our control panel. If one you want to play isn't listed, tell us! We'll get it installed.
