WRUP: REGIME CHANGE VERSION

Common readers of the site know that the higher management is being shifted round right here at Massively, which means that Brianna Royce will now be in charge. While we'll all the time miss Shawn Schuster's unmistakable voice and work on the positioning, the change will seemingly seem invisible to most readers.

I, for one, want to welcome our new overlord, for whom I have nothing however respect and admiration. By complete coincidence, this week's header image occurs to be of her favourite animal. Also, I may have despatched quite a lot of reward baskets of fruit to her house. And I'm certain we will all agree that earlier instances of tomfoolery shouldn't be taken into account when she now considers that she has complete energy over me.

Moving on from the welcoming of overlords, it's time for this week's installment of WRUP, featuring the Massively staff explaining our plans for the weekend in addition to whether or not or not a graphical improve would convey us back to our first MMOs. Check out our plans past the break, and let us know what you'll be up to within the comments!

@Beau_Hindman: I'll be settling down on a brand new deed in Wurm On-line, continuing to grind my teeth as I await my new Computer to get here, and placing my exploration cash the place my mouth is by lastly downloading IMVU. It's a social MMO that looks very... totally different. I am also nonetheless gathering my list of pre-World of Warcraft MMOs for coverage. Fortunately I nonetheless have most of my outdated accounts!

If I up to date any graphics for some of my favorite video games, that may imply a downgrade for many of them. I want graphics which might be more stylized, significantly like those in Free Realms or Clone Wars Adventures. I'd like to see a "severe" recreation finished with a more stylized aptitude. Wurm Online can keep how it's, but I actually need to see some new avatars. I know they're coming, but boy, I can't wait!

@nyphur: This weekend I'll be entertaining a visiting Swedish friend from my previous World of Warcraft guild, working onerous on Predestination, and trying to persuade my housemates to play more Guild Wars 2!

My first MMO was RuneScape, and its graphical updates have truly brought me back a number of times. I began back when it was a blocky world with 2-D goblin sprites, and the primary huge 3-D replace hooked me back in for several months. I've returned periodically to see what the game is like, and the graphics are positively the first thing I look for. EVE Online has the same impact, with giant graphical updates pulling individuals back in to strive the sport once more.

@nbrianna: I will be dividing my recreation time between Guild Wars 2 and City of Heroes. Double XP is on completely in CoH, I hear, so it's the right time to roll up a new character in time for the Positron's Ally event next week.

My first MMO was Ultima Online, and graphical upgrades did deliver me back many instances. That recreation has had extra improved purchasers than any MMO I do know... but those upgraded purchasers often get abandoned by the group earlier than they're completed because most of the veterans simply refuse to switch. Very irritating!

@Eliot_Lefebvre: Metropolis of Heroes, Star Wars: The Old Republic, and the ever-well-liked Providing Help to a Cherished One with a Cold. In some unspecified time in the future I will truly play Guild Wars 2 for greater than 10 minutes at a stretch. If I'm fortunate, it will be earlier than the end of the decade.

I'm really the fallacious individual to ask about returning to a game for a graphical upgrade as a result of graphics have never been what's turned me off from a sport. I didn't initially leave Last Fantasy XI due to the graphics; I left as a result of the game wasn't really fun to play. If I see indicators that the sport I didn't like X period of time in the past has gotten better, I will come running right back, however placing a new coat of paint on a sport I wasn't enjoying doesn't lure me again.

@elixabethclaire: The secret World continues to be on pause for me as I devote my time to Guild Wars 2. I might prefer to hit 80 by the middle of the upcoming week, so I'll be doing plenty of PvE and WvW this weekend. I didn't mean to, but I've acquired a complete agenda plotted out for my momentary "foremost" after she hits 80, not to mention a little roster of who is in want of leveling after her.

Not a lot gaming for me this weekend. Possibly some The secret World.

I go back and play all of my outdated MMOs anyway regardless of updates, though I am very much looking forward to Anarchy On-line's eventual reskin.

@Sypster: My MMO to do listing is a mile large at this level. I really need to place a cap on Quantity III E-book 6 in Lord of the Rings Online, take a look at the new Autumn Festival in RIFT, get by Egypt in The secret World, and make the big bucks in Guild Wars 2.

As for graphical upgrades, nicely, if Anarchy On-line ever will get that newfangled redux off the ground, then you may guess I will be first in line. It would be great to see what a slightly extra updated AO would appear like.

@JayeRnH: This weekend I'm busy with a household trip, but in any spare time I've, I'll log into RIFT and hold out next to Atrophinius within the Autumn instance just to listen to his hilarious voice-overs. Aside from that, I will in all probability pop into Minecraft with the kids so we can work on our tree home.

My first MMO was EverQuest, and I'd be more prone to return if the game really reverted back to the outdated graphics of avatars and revamped zones.

@mvmatt: This weekend is my roommate's birthday, so we have received some mutual friends coming to stay for the weekend. Consequently, my gaming time might be going to be occupied extra by cut up-display mayhem than MMO funtimes. But when the opportunity arises, I will be splitting my time between The secret World and Guild Wars 2.

And would I return to EverQuest or Ultima Online if either one obtained a graphical replace? That's an excellent question. I wish to say yes, however I don't know if I would be telling the reality. I cherished UO and EQ back within the day, but I believe it might take a bit greater than a graphical upgrade to make me a participant once more. For every charmingly dated feature that I fondly remember, there is a plethora of really archaic design selections that I don't think I'd be in a position to place up with.

@MJ_Guthrie: Oh my gosh! I get to recreation this weekend!! *virtually faints with pleasure* How much can I cram in? Let's see, the vote won't be in for Select my Adventure, so The secret World will be on hold until Monday. (By the way, go vote!). To fill i do what the voices in my head tell me , I am going to dive into GW2 extra (I really need to take a look at an Asura), start plotting extra for my EverQuest II community buying district in addition to take in a number of dungeons, and unfold my wings in Aion to complete up some quests and perhaps even get just a few rounds of PvP Arenas in. I additionally plan on consuming pizza. Mmm.

I'd go back in the event that they'd flip the blasted servers again on! (RIP Star Wars Galaxies.)

@mackeypb: I've been playing extra Touhou Hisoutensoku (not that any of you already know what that's), as well as League of Legends. I'm at the moment carrying as Graves, though I am fairly positive those reading my column already know that. It feels good to play more airdash fighters, although; I really feel like a little bit of a void has been stuffed in my gamer coronary heart.

In order for me to go back to EQ, it will take a better sport, not a graphical replace. Actually, graphical updates mean nearly nothing to me. If the identical EQ graphics as in 2000 were on high of the GW2 engine, I would still be down for playing it. High-high quality graphics are a bonus, not a necessity.

@terilynns: I can be leaping into Star Trek Online this weekend to play just a few Foundry missions to discuss on my UGC podcast. I'll also be in Lord of the Rings On-line as I discover it very enjoyable to farm and craft in that sport. If time allows, I will likely be again in Glitch as properly. And yes, the rumors are true: Some individuals are twisting my arm to provide Guild Wars 2 a try. I'd decide it up this weekend.

I am really glad this week's question doesn't apply to me. My first MMO is still my favourite, and it's a fantastic game -- Star Trek On-line!

In the beginning of each weekend, we meet up with the Massively staff members and ask them, "What are you playing this week?" (Otherwise often known as: WRUP!) Be part of us to see what we're as much as in and out of sport -- and catch us within the feedback to let us know what you're playing, too!
