GET MINECRAFT FULL VERSION MINECRAFT RUNNING ON A RASPBERRY PI

Installing Raspbian on your Raspberry Pi means you'll find Minecraft Pi in the Games section. Minecraft Pi is a bare-bones version of the popular survival game designed to help users learn different programming languages.

Sure, it's enjoyable, but it's not the Minecraft game we've come recognize and enjoy. Like everything else on the Raspberry Pi, a group of users have figured out how to install the full version of Minecraft on your Raspberry Pi 2 or 3.

There's a lot to edit and tweak with files and Terminal commands, just like everything else on the Raspberry Pi. You should be patient and go through each step.

Be aware that before you begin there are a few things you should be aware of:

You'll need your Mojang account log-in info and your Minecraft username.

Naturally, you'll require a paid license for Minecraft. Minecraft.net has a place to purchase one.

This guide is for Minecraft 1.8.9. However, with a simple modification you can use the most recent version, currently 1.9.4 (more about this later).

While Minecraft is not the most enjoyable experience you can have on an expensive computer It is certainly possible to play it.

Spend an hour getting everything set up and running.

I would suggest opening this guide on your Raspberry Pi's browser, with an Terminal window next to it. You'll need to download altered log files from Dropbox. I do not want to publish the commands here only to see them modified in the future.

The process is straightforward and requires you to copy and paste Terminal commands from your browser and paste them into the command line. Once you've entered each command, hit the Enter key on the keyboard. Your Pi will take care of the rest.

Tips to make the process easier

Raspberry Pi 3 users are exempt from step 1. Currently you cannot overclock the Pi 3. Besides it, the Pi 3 is actually faster out of the box than the recommended overclock speed of the Pi 2.

After you've completed Step 4, press the arrow keys to highlight Advanced options. Next highlight GL Options, select Enable.

Step 7 of the guide was confusing to me. It states that you need to click "edit profile", but you actually need to select Profile Editor and then double-click the first listing. Click on Version Selection next to Use version to select a number of the build. Keep in mind, the default setting is 1.8.9. This version is the one we recommend for now. We will change it after everything is operational.

Step 10 tells you to edit the "run.sh" file without additional instructions. Open the Minecraft folder in your Pi directory, right-click the run.sh file and select Text Editor.

There are two ways to launch Minecraft. To start Minecraft it is recommended to follow the instructions. tell you that you should use "./run.sh". However, prior to entering the command, you'll have to type "cd Minecraft" into a Terminal window. Another alternative is to open the Minecraft folder, double-click on the run.sh file and select "Execute."

Start the latest version. Then you are able playing around with the installation. To get to Best minecraft servers of Minecraft, you'll need to relaunch the Minecraft.jar file.

Enter the cd Minecraft in a terminal window

Next, enter: java -jar Minecraft.jar

Click on Profile Editor to change the version to 1.9.4 or the most current version.

Save your change, and click the Play button to force Minecraft to download the most recent version.

Next step is to start the Minecraft folder.

To avoid problems if you make a mistake, you should take two-seconds and make a copy of the run.sh file. Change the name to "runcopy.sh".

Make sure you have a copy of the file. Then, right-click it and select Text Editor.

Enter 1.8.9 into the text field by pressing Ctrl+F on your keyboard. There should be twoonly two- instances found. Replace each of them with the current version of Minecraft (this must be the same version number as you chose in step 3).

Save the file, then reboot your Raspberry Pi.

Start Minecraft as normal and enjoy.
