MINECRAFT HITS 54 MILLION SOLD, CONSOLE EDITIONS PASS PC

Mojang's Patrick Geuder said that Minecraft's blocky sandbox is in the process of reaching 54 million copies across all platforms. He also stated via Twitter that sales of the console (Xbox 360, PS3) versions have already surpassed that of the PC and Mac versions. The game will launch on Xbox One, PS4 and Vita in August, the latter being compatible with Cross-Buy which is free for players with the PS3 version. Xbox 360 and PS4 owners who have the game installed on their Xbox 360 or PS3 will now be able download the latest versions for $5.

The first version of Minecraft was released in May 2009. It was two years before its official release in November. Mojang and its creator Markus "Notch" Persson have been celebrating numerous sales milestones since then, with the most recent noting that 15 million copies of the PC version were sold by April. In Tlauncher for minecraft reached 12 million sold, and the Pocket Edition for iOS and Android hit 21 million. [Image: Mojang]
