I downloaded MC from the official website. When I attempt to run the Launcher Installer it opens and says "Making things awesome" and the progress bar doesn't move. I tried closing it and opening it again. I also tried closing it and opening it. If that doesn't work, I'm trying Java edition.
The new launcher (released on Nov 2) has issues that aren't resolved for a number of players.
If you own the game and aren't on GamePass download and install the Windows 7/8 launcher. It's the launcher that they call "the launcher" that we have been using for years. (Link)
If you wish to avoid the upgrade nag, right click the old launcher shortcut and then set compatibility to Windows 8 on the Compatibility tab.
You are an absolute lifesaver! It wouldn't install after I downloaded it. Sparta had the exact issue like the guy who posted this. It worked!
PSScroll down the link and you'll see an the option to download launcher for Windows 7/8 and downloads are available from there. I'm dumb. I kept downloading windows 10/11 over and over again.
