SABARIMALA AYYAPPA SWAMY TEMPLE


Sabarimala Ayyappa Swamy Temple is a famous Hindu pilgrimage site located in the Western Ghat mountain ranges of Kerala, India. It is dedicated to Lord Ayyappa, who is considered the presiding deity of the temple. Sabarimala is renowned for its unique traditions, strict rituals, and attracts millions of devotees from all over the world every year. The temple is situated amidst dense forests, on the hilltop of Sabarimala, at an altitude of approximately 914 meters (3,000 feet) above sea level. The journey to Sabarimala is considered a sacred and arduous one, with devotees undertaking a rigorous 41-day fast and observing strict rules of abstinence and austerity. This period is known as the "Mandala Vratham," and it culminates with the pilgrimage to the temple.
