Minecraft has been around for quite a while now, and it's popularity is growing, but since it's official launch on the 18th of November in 2011, more and more servers have grown, ceased to exist, and been forgotten. Yet four servers have been running with Minecraft throughout the 12 years it has been in existence, some rife with chaos and drama while others are a serene paradise for those who want to be friends.

The Novylen Minecraft Server located in Canada is the official name of the oldest Minecraft Server ever created on the 9th day of April the year 2010, four months prior to the previous owner, MinecraftOnline. If you go back, you'd see that MinecraftOnline was released the same day multiplayer was first created. So how was Novylen created before this?
While the server was first introduced on the day of Minecraft Multiplayer's release The map was made way earlier, when the owner, rbos first played the map in his singleplayer world way back in Minecraft's InfDev period (specifically InfDev 20100413), four months prior to the launch of Minecraft Multiplayer. To add to this the server has not once been reset, meaning the player could have hopped onto the server over 10 years ago, constructed something, then gone and their creation as the only evidence of their existence. Novylen is also far less popular than 2b2t, meaning it hasn't suffered the same fate as 2b2t, which has seen countless glitches, hacks, and adversity. This leads to many of the original creations of 2010 still being seen in the present!

Nerd.nu was founded on June 10th in 2009, the day it was first launched just 3 days after Minecraft's unofficial 'Multiplayer' release Version 'Classic 0.0.16a'. Survival mode was not an option in Minecraft at the time of its launch. Nerd.nu has hosted a variety of Minecraft creations, as you can see in the above image. The server has seen various game modes added over time The most popular and longest-running is the 'Creative' mode which means that players don't have a healthbar, are able to fly, and build anything their imagination desires.
Although the server was launched in the early stages, some argue that MinecraftOnline is much older than it. This is due to the map having been reset many times over the years, so it's not the same place that it was ago. Nerd.nu's Creative gamemode is currently on its 36th revision, meaning it was reset 35 times.
Nerd.nu was not considered the oldest server due to the previously mentioned resets to the server. It's world is relatively young. Position 3 - MinecraftOnline Date of Creation: August 4th 2010 Created by: SlowRiot

MinecraftOnline was launched on the 4th of August in 2010, and has been in operation since then. It was created within a matter of minutes of Notch releasing survival mode. Since then, and with minecraft servers , the server has stayed online and has not been reset one time. It's not like the cobblestone conglomerate 2b2t has created.
It's amazing that MinecraftOnline has had staff since its inception. MinecraftOnline also has rules that players must follow, unlike 2b2t. However, it's not always the case that players adhere to the rules however during the 12 years it has been in operation, more than 43,000 players have been exiled. That's not the only surprising aspect, as the global size (remember that it has never been reset) has risen to 26GB of storage space, which is just one world.

2b2t is among the most well-known Minecraft servers. Since its creation at the end of December 2010 2b2t has become known as an anarchy-based server, with an utter lack of rules with thousands of players using hacked client systems, and in a lack of respect which gives the server its distinct, beaten-up landscape. What the server is probably most well-known for, however is its map, that, since its creation has never been reset. This means that countless players have walked through the server throughout the years, leaving their marks on the server for all time.
In it's early days 2b2t saw a steady flow of players, fluctuating between 10 and 80 players over the years. In June 2016, however, this changed when TheCampingRusher uploaded his first video. Since then, countless other YouTubers have recorded on the server, making 2b2t it's popularity known today. In 2022, the server constantly reaches over 1000 players in the peak hours and it doesn't look like this number will diminish anytime soon.
In conclusion, as well as these servers, a number of other servers also have been around since the year 2011. Servers haven't been around for that long.
nowdays to become popular it's not all about history. Minecraft Server Lists have also been around since the beginning of time and show some of the top Minecraft servers available. A server list (or server database) is a list of information about a server. It usually includes details like a server's name, IP address, and ports.
