MINECRAFT SOLD 54 MILLION, CONSOLE EDITIONS PASS PC



The popular blocky sandbox game Minecraft is closing in on 54 million copies sold across all platforms, according to Mojang's Patrick Geuder, who also tweeted that the console (Xbox 360 and PS3) versions of the game have now exceeded sales of the PC and Mac versions. The game will be available on Xbox One, PS4 or Vita in August. Minecraft-server-list.fun of the game is cross-buy compatible and is free for users who own the PS3 version. Xbox One and PS4 owners who have the game installed on Xbox 360 or PS3 will be able to download newer versions for $5.



Players' first moments with Minecraft began in May 2009 when the beta version of Minecraft became available, a little more than two years prior to its official release in November 2011. Mojang and Markus "Notch", Persson, the creator of Minecraft have achieved a number of milestones in sales. Recently, Mojang reported that 15 million copies had been sold of the PC version. The Xbox 360 version sold 12 million copies, while the Pocket Edition for iOS or Android was 21 million copies. [Image: Mojang]
