HOW TO HOST AND CONFIGURE A MINECRAFT SERVER WITH NO-IP

How to Host and Configure a Minecraft Server with No-IP.

To get started you will require three things:

Minecraft Account Minecraft Server Software No-IP Account Account Minecraft Server Software No-IP Account

To connect to the server and play, you will require an Minecraft account. If you don't have an account, you can make one here.

Step One: You'll first need to download the Minecraft Server software package hosted here and then start the server.

Step Two Step Two: Installing and configuring the Minecraft Server You will want to follow the link and follow the installation instructions for your particular operating system:

https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Tutorials/Setting_up_a_server

Step Three: Once everything is installed, you can move on to the next step.

Step Three: Port Forwarding You must port forward port 25565 to the IP address of your server in your router.

If you require assistance with port forwarding, visit portforward.com. There you can enter the make and model number of your router and the device/application/software you wish to forward. The website will provide step-by step instructions on how you can properly portforward your router.

After completing port forwarding, go to www.portchecktool.com to check if port 25565 is open. If MINECRAFT SERVERS is, you will receive a "Success!" message.

Additionally, you can find port forwarding assistance in our General Port Forwarding Guide.

You must make sure that we are resolving your hostname to the correct external IP address. You can check your current IP address by, once again, visiting www.portchecktool.com from the network's location.

Step Four: You need to configure a way to keep No-IP current with your dynamic public (external) IP address. There are a variety of ways to accomplish this.

First, you can download our Dynamic Update client for free. This client will need to be running at all times at the network's location. It will check your IP address every five minutes. If your IP has changed, it will automatically update that change using No-IP.

You can also check whether the devices on your network are compatible with No-IP for integrated DNS updates. Some devices that support No-IP support for Dynamic DNS include Camera systems or routers. This will eliminate the requirement to download Dynamic Update Client.

Step Five: At this point, you should be connected to your server and let your friends connect too. Simply give them the hostname you're using along with the port number. For example, "hostname.domain.com:25565".
