EPOXY, POLYURETHANE OR PU-CEMENT FLOORING: A QUICK GUIDE

Resin floors are no longer exotic: they are installed in warehouses, factories, car parks and service centers. But “resin flooring” covers several different systems, and the right choice depends on what the floor will face every day.

Epoxy flooring is a hard, abrasion-resistant coating with a smooth, seamless surface. It works well in warehouses, retail and office spaces, and laboratories. Colors can be matched to the RAL palette, with a gloss or matte finish.

Polyurethane flooring is more flexible than epoxy. It handles impacts, equipment vibration and temperature swings better, which makes it a common choice for workshops, unheated buildings and areas with heavy vehicle traffic.

Polyurethane-cement flooring is designed for the toughest conditions: hot water, cleaning chemicals, oils and sudden temperature changes. It is a typical solution for food processing plants, cold storage rooms and parking garages.

If the concrete is simply dusting and loads are light, dust-proofing may be enough — grinding followed by a hardening sealer.

You can learn more about coating types and pricing on the website of GrandPolymer, a company that has been installing turnkey polymer floors since 2012.

The main rule is simple: the system should be chosen for the specific site, not the other way around. Before ordering, assess the loads, chemicals, temperatures and the condition of the substrate — and the floor will last for many years.
