How To Setup A Free Minecraft Server 1.19 Update

Setting up a Java-based Minecraft server can be tricky for those who aren't savvy with file movement and editing. The task is actually much easier than it looks at first glance.

Mojang also provides a guide for players on the official website. Players will be able to create a base server with just one folder and a few other files. They can then tweak it to their liking or start playing in version 1.19.

This works for all versions of the game. Mojang has many versions of the server file.

Minecraft players can follow these steps to host their own server free of charge:

1. The official site hosts the Java server file. 1.19 players want to make sure they download the server.1.19.0.jar. This is the current server build. 2. For convenient access, players should make a folder to put this downloaded .jar file in. You can name it anything you like, but "Minecraft Server", will work well. Once players have their folder setup, they will need to place their downloaded.jar file inside. 3. Players should next open the command prompt and enter cd followed by the directory of the folder where the .jar file is located. For example, C:\Users\Admin\Desktop\Minecraft Server or whatever directory the folder resides in. Players can check this directory by opening the server folder and checking the top of the window.

4. Next, players will need to type Java-jar server.1.19.0.jar into the search box and hit enter. Players will be notified of an error, but it is intended. It will generate the EULA file.

5. Players should go back to the server folder and open the EULA.txt with their preferred text editor, such as Notepad.

6. Before saving changes and closing text editor, look for the line that says "eula=false".

7. There should also be a server.properties file, which will need to be opened with a text editor. Some players may need to select "Open With" and choose their text editor manually to open this file correctly.

8. Players should pay attention to the line that says "query.port", as this will list the ports players will need forward on their routers, where applicable. This is not always necessary depending on the hardware configuration of a player. Traditionally, players must forward the default port 25565 to their router's settings. However, the port may change in certain circumstances.

9. The rest of your server properties file will determine how the server works. For example, the "gamemode" setting can be set as Survival, Creative, Adventure or another option to change the default game mode. Players can also specify things like difficulty, PvP acces, maximum players, and whether or not the Nether has access.

10. Once all the necessary changes have been made to server.properties, players can save the changes. Once the server.properties has been modified, players can save the changes. If everything is correct, the.jar file will start running the server. Players should then be able to connect.

11. Players who did not specify an IP address in the server properties file will have their server IP tied to their machine's address. If a player's IP address is 192.168.0.5 it will also be used for the server. The Minecraft multiplayer menu allows players to connect to the server by entering the IP followed with the forward port. For example, 192.168.0.5.25565 could be the address that players would like to connect to. The server hosting player can also enter localhost from the multiplayer menu to connect to their server.

Once these steps are followed, Minecraft players can connect to the server with their server admin and start playing. If future changes need to be made, the admin can reopen the server.properties file in their text editor and tweak any of the listed settings as needed.
