A doctorate in social epidemiology was earned at Columbia University, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at the Institute for Social Research, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Berkeley, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology. Epidemiology has been his life's work for more than three decades. As an assistant professor of epidemiology at Columbia University, he was also an assistant professor of pediatrics and community health at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and was also an assistant professor of health science at Brooklyn College. Afterwards, he served as a public health official in Orange County, California. Eventually, he joined UCI's Departments of Medicine, Neurology, and Social Ecology as a professor. He teaches introductory epidemiology and biostatistics at California State University, Long Beach, where he is Professor and Chair of the Health Science Department. His numerous epidemiology research projects have led him to publish more than 50 articles in professional journals and scientific journals. An active member of the American Public Health Association's epidemiology section, he belongs to the Society for Epidemiologic Research. Dr. Thomas A. Sellers, PhD, MPH, received his doctorate from Tulane University and has postdoctoral training in genetic epidemiology.
