The Blog Post Released On Wednesday

According to a blog posted Wednesday, Mojang Studios has stepped up when it comes blockchain technology (NFTs) and non-fungible tokens (BTCs). Mojang is well known for producing the best-selling game of all time Minecraft, a three-dimensional (3D) sandbox game that has no intended goals.

To date, Mojang has sold 238 million copies of Minecraft and no other video game has sold more copies. Minecraft's sales are followed by top sellers like Grand Theft Auto V (165M copies), Tetris (100M copies), and Wii Sports (82.9M copies).

On Wednesday, a blog post stated that Minecraft will not be using NFTs or blockchain technology. just another wordpress site The Minecraft creators wholeheartedly believe that "all players should have access to the same functionality" and "everyone has access to the same content."

Using NFTs would go against the company's ethos, as NFTs can "create models of scarcity and exclusion that conflict with [the company's] guidelines and the spirit of Minecraft." The company cites a number of reasons like the fact there are too many blockchains issuing NFTs, "some third-party NFTs may not be reliable," and NFTs have been "sold at artificially or [for] fraudulently inflated prices."

"Blockchain technologies are not allowed to be integrated into our Minecraft client or server applications, nor can they be used to create NFTs with any in-game content including worlds and skins, personas items, or other mods," Mojang explained. The Stockholm-based developer of video games added:

We will also closely monitor the evolution of blockchain technology over time to see if it allows for more secure experiences and other practical and inclusive gaming applications. However, we have no plans of implementing blockchain technology into Minecraft right now.

Mojang's decision is made at a time Ubisoft and Square Enix have all launched NFT implementations in some way. Ubisoft was criticized for not including NFT inclusion at the end in 2021.

GSC Game World was so critical of the companies that it decided to stop production of NFT elements for Stalker 2. Nicolas Pouard from Ubisoft stated that players aren't understanding the benefits of NFTs and that they reject them.

Konami stated in February that it would continue issuing NFTs to protect the company's content. Square Enix was also part of a $35 million investment round in Zebedee, a fintech company that processes bitcoin payments. Zebedee, a New Jersey company, specializes in integrating Bitcoin payments into gaming.

Mojang doesn't want to have any involvement with blockchain or NFTs, as it wants to be all-inclusive. Mojang stated Wednesday that NFTs and speculative pricing distract from the game and encourage profiteering. This is contrary to the long-term joy of our players.
