'Minecraft' is Making its Way To China

The world's Minecraft players log hundreds of hours playing Minecraft each day, but they don't play in China. Today, Minecraft developer Mojang announced it's creating a whole new version of the game created specifically for Chinese gamers. The partnership with Chinese internet company NetEase is what made this development possible exactly the same NetEase that operates games like World of Warcraft and Hearthstone in China already.

There is no official release date and there is no information on what changes to the primary game will be made to cater to the Chinese market. What we do know is the Chinese version will only launch for PC and mobile devices and not consoles, once it finally arrives.

"We are excited to introduce Minecraft to Chinese players, and we expect our vast online community to take to this game of a lifetime," William Ding, the CEO and founder of NetEase, Inc. announced. We offer a strong platform to introduce Minecraft to China's vast userbase, thanks to our deep knowledge of China and our ability launch globally-respected mobile and online games.
