'Minecraft' is Making its Way To China

The world's Minecraft players log hundreds of hours playing Minecraft each day, but they don't play in China. Today, Minecraft developer Mojang announced that it is creating a new version of the game designed specifically for Chinese consumers. This development was made possible by NetEase, a Chinese internet company. NetEase operates games such as Hearthstone and World of Warcraft in China.

There is no release date and there is no information on what changes to the core game will be made to cater to the Chinese market. What we do know is the Chinese version will only be available on mobile and PC devices and not consoles, once it finally makes an appearance.

"We are excited to bring Minecraft to Chinese audiences, and expect our vast online community to take to this game of a lifetime," William Ding, CEO and co-founder of NetEase, Inc. announced. "With our deep understanding of the Chinese market and our capacity to successfully launch world-renowned mobile and online games we provide a robust platform to introduce Minecraft to China's vast player base."
