Teenager is Arrested for Mass School Bomb Hoax


A teenage boy believed to be at the center of the Minecraft gamers squabble has been arrested after an attack on a massive bomb shut down hundreds of colleges and schools across the UK.



Hertfordshire police arrested the 19-year old after 24,000 threatening emails to schools were sent out warning of a bomb attack and soliciting cash.



The emails were faked to appear as if they were sent by a gaming network known as VeltPvP. VeltPvP, an online Minecraft player against-player server, is the same kind of service that businesses use to sell their products to gamers.



A teenager who is believed to be at the heart of the Minecraft gamers feud has been arrested after an explosion that shut down hundreds of schools across the UK. Hertfordshire police arrested the 19-year-old following 24,000 emails were sent out to schools warning about imminent attacks.



The emails were designed to cause the domain to be suspended for abuse - and are thought to have been sent by a group aiming to discredit VeltPvP.



The National Crime Agency (NCA), stated that there was no credible threat to the emails received this week.

They acknowledged that they were aware of the concerns of parents and teachers, but stressed that there was no real threat from the emails that were sent to schools.



We are however taking the communications extremely seriously. Since this is a live investigation, we are unable to provide further information.'



Signs were put up on the outside of Cardinal Road School in Feltham after the hoax email bombings.



People involved in the squabble said that their adversaries had engaged in illegal activities to hinder one another's business.
Minecraft servers



When asked if he regretted the effects the letters had on the students who were forced to evacuate, one of the hoaxers responded, "It is terrible, it'sn't the nicest thing."



Placing the blame on VeltPvP, the hoaxer said the network had enaged in a series of Direct Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, which he alleges were used to try and stop other rival Minecraft servers.



Parents were asked to collect their children following the threat of a bomb hoax email



In an announcement, VeltPvP said: 'We've been being harassed by cybercriminals who are trying to smear us in any way possible.



"We are extremely sorry for those who were affected by this, but we want to let you know that it is fake."



The email was sent to more than 400 schools and colleges across the country. It claimed that a bomb had already been planted and could explode if the money wasn't given.



Cardinal Road School in Feltham West London was one of the schools that were targeted by the fake email.



Police forces in London, Bristol, Liverpool, Bedfordshire and the the North East were among those conducting an investigation.



Parents have requested to be allowed to pick up their children from school due to concerns over the emails.



Six schools in Hertfordshire were also affected: Abbots Hill, Valley School, Stevenage, The Sele School, Duncombe School, Stanborough School, Watford, St Albans High School and Valley School.
