Minecraft's silent landscaper Steve is exiting his world of blocks and entering Telltale's world of stories: Minecraft is getting a "narrative-driven" game from the creators of The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones games. Similar to Telltale's other games, Minecraft: Story Mode will be episodic and available on a wide variety of platforms when it comes out "some time in 2015." It appears that Microsoft's commitment to keep Minecraft multiplatform is proving to be true, despite the acquisition.

Telltale's describing the game as a "partnership with Mojang," and says it won't exist as an extension of Minecraft It's an independent series "driven by the player's choice." Mojang and Telltale both point out that they are working with the community on the story. Mcdev's blog Mojang specifically states, "We're definitely not planning to create an official story for Steve [the main character in Minecraftor to describe the world of Minecraft in depth."
